About us
Who am I?
Hi There! I'm Marilou and I am C'est Marie. I'm a small business based in the Netherlands. I started C'est Marie because I want to make sustainable items more accessible, as well as more colourful!
All items on my webshop are handmade by me. Plus, almost all materials that I use are secondhand, making my items sustainable, fashionable and unique! Chances are you will not find the exact same item again on my website, how fun is that!
Want to check out our products in real life?
You can find a selection of our products in Pit Conceptstore in Utrecht (Amsterdamsestraatweg 271). As always, this selection is unique, sustainable and one-of-a-kind. Which means these products are not on the webshop and the selection will constantly vary!
Going green has never been this colourful!
Why Upcycling?
Check out our products-
Less waste
According to the RVO in the Netherlands, we donate around 150.000 to 200.000 ton of textile each year through different channels, including thriftstores. Only 45.000 to 100.000 ton textile is sold by thriftstores each year. Which means theres a lot of textile products left to be reused.

Better for the environment
It takes around 2.700 litres of fresh water to make a single cotton T-shirt. This is enough to meet one person's drinking needs for 2.5 years (source: European Environment Agency).
It's better to prolong the life of existing fabrics, by upcycling them into new products.

Creative and Unique
Upcycling creates the oppertunity to be creative with secondhand materials and you can be unique in your style! No need for fast fashion items that everyone has, buy sustainable, upcycled and one-of-a-kind products!
My Design Process
User Experience is not limited to digital designs. As a UX designer I try to make my designs both fun and functional. With each design I look at potential ways to use the product, and issues one might encounter when using my product. I measure lots of items beforehand, which I then use to create the measurements for my productes.
For example, when creating the Large Pouch, I mostly intended it to be used for toiletries, so it needed to fit at least a toothbrush, deodorant and showergel in the pouch. When drawing my pattern I used the measurements of these items to ensure customers wouldn't have this issue when using the Large Pouch.
All C'est Marie designs are thoughtful, functional and most of all: fun! Everything is designed from the perspective of a UX desinger.
